Just passed emissions warning to others

Postby CarbonTDI on Mon May 03, 2010 2:17 pm

Hey I just went and passed emissions today with a .02 opacity reading on 99% Bio. Now here is the warning they looked under the hood to see if the PCV was removed as well as the catalytic converter which I dont have so I told them it was tucked way up in there. for those who don't know my car it has straight pipe from the turbo back no cat or muffler also the EGR is completely dissabled so for those of you James T who have their PCV disconnected you may have to switch for emissions.

I just had an emissions test last week and also got a .02 or .04 on b99. :) I have a cat and that's all they checked for, they didn't look under my hood. What is a PCV? It's not ringing a bell at the moment...

PCV = Post or Positive Crankcase Valve

I was not aware our cars hade a PCV. It is literally a $2 part that will make your car run like cr@p if it gets clogged.

Ah yes, I'm used to people calling it the CCV, mine is indeed disconnected. I've had it disconnected on both my TDIs and they've never said anything, I've never tried to hide it. Both cars have been in for emissions tests for at least 4-5 times.

I weld on a cat shell and deleted the EGR off my 04 and passed on D2 at 0.00% last week. RC3, GT1749, no EGR, etc.
